Mission Statement:

 The mission of the Arts Team is to provide opportunities for members of the Lawrence community from all walks of life to participate in the arts. The Arts Team will do this by coordinating shows, exhibits and contests for local artists to exhibit their work and by providing educational programs that engage the community in creating and discussing art. The Arts Team will also work to enrich our understanding of subjects such as environmental conservation and social justice through artistic expression.

Vision Statement:

The Arts Team will enhance the ECM and Lawrence communities by providing a venue for artists who are not working on a professional level to show their work and receive feedback from the public. We will also provide art education opportunities to community members who would like to create art but cannot afford to enroll in a class, making all of our events by donation and open to the public. We will seek to create partnerships with other groups in the community in order to create a broad awareness about art opportunities in Lawrence and work to reach diverse populations through various civic groups and social service agencies.

Spring 2012 events:

• Arts contest:
Once every semester. An inspirational quote or passage will be announced and contestants are to make art in the categories of: music, poetry, photography and painting. Entry to contest is $5 per person and winner receives $50 plus recognition on our website, facebook, twitter and newsletter. There will be a final event with performance and display of images/paintings where judges (volunteer connoisseurs in each category) will pick a winner who will be announced at the end of event. Quote or passage and date of final event will be announced soon. 

• Photograph of the month:
Monthly contest. Everyone can be an artist! send in a photograph by email of how the monthly theme relates to you in your everyday life. Monthly theme is announced every 1st of the month and a winner is picked by the end of that month. Winning picture will be displayed on our website, Facebook and Twitter. Stay tuned for February's theme! Theme will be announced here and on Facebook and Twitter
